Songspot keeps a small profile so your stats follow you, shows an occasional ad in free play, and nothing else. Here is exactly what that means, on iPhone and Android.

Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google. Songspot receives only what the sign-in provider hands over: a user identifier and, if you allow it, your name. No password ever reaches us and Songspot never sees your Apple or Google credentials.

Your profile holds a display name you can edit, the character you pick to represent you, the date you joined and your game statistics (rounds played and won, streaks, daily, party and ranked results). It is stored on servers run by Supabase in the European Union and used to show your stats and character back to you, to your friends, to the people you play a party with and to your opponent in a ranked match.

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen (Delete account). That erases your profile, your friends list, your notification token and every stat from our servers immediately and cannot be undone.

Friends

Every account has a friend code. When you add someone with theirs, or accept their request, each of you can see the other's display name, character, whether they are online and their daily results, and you can challenge each other to a 1v1. The list of who your friends are is stored with your account; you can remove a friend at any time, and deleting your account removes the list.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, your phone gives Songspot a push token: an address Apple uses to deliver notifications to this device. It is stored with your account and used only to tell you that a friend sent you a request, accepted yours or challenged you to a 1v1. It is removed when you sign out or delete your account, and you can turn notifications off in your phone's Settings at any time. Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone itself and send nothing to us.

Party and ranked

When you host or join a party, your display name and character are shared with the other players in that room for the length of the game, and your answers and scores are relayed between the devices. Rooms are identified by a short code; nothing from a party is kept once it ends, apart from the totals in your own stats. A finished ranked match stores its points against your account so the daily and weekly leaderboards can be built; the board shows your display name and character to other players.

Advertising

Free play shows a short ad after every five rounds, served by Google AdMob. On iPhone you are asked whether Songspot may track you across other apps; if you decline, ads are still shown but not personalised. In the European Economic Area and the UK you are asked for consent separately, as the law requires, and you can change that choice later. Google's use of data is described in Google's advertising policy. Premium removes ads entirely.

Purchases

Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription (the yearly plan can start with a free trial) or a one-time lifetime purchase. On iPhone it is handled by Apple through the App Store, on Android by Google through Google Play, and on the web by Stripe. Songspot never sees your payment details; the store tells us only that the purchase exists, so it can be switched on for your account. On iPhone, purchase records are also passed to RevenueCat, a subscription service that keeps count of plans, renewals and trials for us; it receives your Songspot user identifier and the purchase, never your payment details.

To learn which premium offers work, the app records a few events with your account: that the premium page was opened, which plan was tapped and whether a purchase finished. Nothing else about how you play is recorded for this.

Music

Song previews, artwork and track information come from Apple. When you play a clip, your device requests it from Apple's servers directly, in the same way it would for any app playing a preview. Apple's handling of that is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you use Apple Music for full-track playback on iPhone, it happens through Apple Music on your device; Songspot never sees your Apple Music account, library or listening history.

On your device only

Display options, the round you had lined up and a copy of your profile are kept in the app's own settings storage so it opens the way you left it. Deleting the app, or clearing site data, removes them.

What we do not do

No analytics or usage tracking beyond what is described above.
No selling of data, and no sharing with anyone other than the providers named here (Apple, Google, Stripe, Supabase, RevenueCat), each only for the purpose described.
No reading of your contacts, photo library, location or messages. Saving a result card to Photos only happens when you choose Save Image, and only adds that one picture.

Children

Songspot is not directed at children under 13, and ads are not personalised for anyone who declines tracking.

Your rights

You can see everything Songspot holds about you on the Profile and Friends screens, edit your name and character there, and delete all of it with one tap. For anything else, write to us.

Changes

If a future version collects anything new, this page is updated before that version is released, and the date above changes.
