songspot

Songspot keeps a small profile so your stats follow you, shows an occasional ad in free play, and nothing else. Here is exactly what that means, on iPhone, Android and the web.

Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google. Songspot receives only what the sign-in provider hands over: a user identifier and, if you allow it, your name. No password ever reaches us and Songspot never sees your Apple or Google credentials.

Your profile holds a display name you can edit, an optional picture you choose, the date you joined and your game statistics (rounds played and won, streaks, party and ranked results). It is stored on servers run by Supabase in the European Union and used for one thing: showing your stats and picture back to you, and to the friends you play a party with or the opponent in a ranked match.

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen (Delete account). That erases your profile, your picture and every stat from our servers immediately and cannot be undone.

Party and ranked

When you host or join a party, your display name and picture are shared with the other players in that room for the length of the game, and your answers and scores are relayed between the devices. Rooms are identified by a short code; nothing from a party is kept once it ends, apart from the totals in your own stats. A finished ranked match stores its points against your account so the daily and weekly leaderboards can be built; the board shows your display name and picture to other players.

Advertising

Free play shows a short ad after every five rounds, served by Google (AdMob in the apps, AdSense on the web). On iPhone you are asked whether Songspot may track you across other apps; if you decline, ads are still shown but not personalised. In the European Economic Area and the UK you are asked for consent separately, as the law requires, and you can change that choice later. Google's use of data is described in Google's advertising policy. Premium removes ads entirely.

Purchases

Premium is a one-time purchase. On iPhone it is handled by Apple through the App Store, on Android by Google through Google Play, and on the web by Stripe. Songspot never sees your payment details; the store or Stripe tells us only that the purchase exists, so it can be switched on for your account.

Music

Song previews, artwork and track information come from Apple. When you play a clip, your device requests it from Apple's servers directly, in the same way it would for any app playing a preview. Apple's handling of that is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you use Apple Music for full-track playback on iPhone, it happens through Apple Music on your device; Songspot never sees your Apple Music account, library or listening history.

On your device only

Display options, the round you had lined up and a copy of your profile are kept in the app's own settings storage (or your browser's storage on the web) so it opens the way you left it. Deleting the app, or clearing site data, removes them.

What we do not do

No analytics or usage tracking beyond what is described above.
No selling of data, and no sharing with anyone other than the providers named here (Apple, Google, Stripe, Supabase), each only for the purpose described.
No reading of your contacts, photo library (you pick a single picture; only that one is used), location or messages.

Children

Songspot is not directed at children under 13, and ads are not personalised for anyone who declines tracking.

Your rights

You can see everything Songspot holds about you on the Profile screen, edit your name and picture there, and delete all of it with one tap. For anything else, write to us.

Changes

If a future version collects anything new, this page is updated before that version is released, and the date above changes.
