You hear a tenth of a second of a song and try to name it. If you can't, you can hear more. Five chances, and using fewer scores better.

How to play

• Tap the big circular button to hear the clip.
• Type into Name that track and pick from the suggestions.
• Stuck? Tap Skip to hear a longer clip. The stages are 0.1s, 0.5s, 2s, 8s and 15s.
• Get it right and the next round moves up a difficulty level.

Changing what you play

The menu button at the top left opens everything else: difficulty from Easy to Impossible, era from the 60s to the 2020s, 22 genres, and the display options including the stage light.

Playing one artist

Type any artist into the artist search in that menu and the game plays their catalogue instead of the general pool. Difficulty then means how well known the track is for that artist, so Easy is their signature song and Impossible is the one nobody streams. One-artist mode is part of Premium.

Party

Play with friends in the menu. Host a room and share the code, or type a friend's code to join. Everyone hears the same clip at the same moment and the fastest right answer scores the most. Joining is free; hosting is part of Premium.

Ranked

Five rounds against an opponent, Easy to Impossible. Each round is worth its difficulty, answering inside the first second earns a bonus, every wrong guess costs a tenth, and naming all five earns extra. Your rating moves after each match and resets every Monday; the leaderboards count your best five matches of the week and best three of the day. Ranked is part of Premium.

Premium

A one-time purchase — $9.99, never a subscription. It removes ads and opens ranked, party hosting and one-artist mode. Bought it before and it's gone? Use Restore purchases in the menu on the same store account (App Store on iPhone, Google Play on Android; on the web, sign in with the same account you bought with).

Common questions

The clip won't play. The audio is streamed from Apple's music catalogue, so the app needs a connection. If a track won't load the app moves on to another one.

Do I need Apple Music? No. The app plays the public 30 second previews. No subscription needed.

A song is missing or wrong. Track details come from Apple's catalogue. Email below and it can be looked at.

My settings reset. Volume and display options are remembered. Difficulty, era, genre and artist reset when you close the app fully, so every fresh open starts a new game.

Deleting your account. Profile → Delete account. It erases your profile, picture and stats immediately.
